FAQ

Startup India registration questions

Who is eligible for DPIIT startup recognition?

As per current rules, a Private Limited Company, LLP or registered partnership firm can apply if it is within DPIIT’s age and turnover limits, is working on innovation or a scalable business model, and was not formed by splitting up or reconstructing an existing business. Our expert checks the current limits for you.

Can a sole proprietorship get Startup India recognition?

Generally, no. Sole proprietorships are not eligible. To apply, you would first need to register as a Private Limited Company, LLP or registered partnership firm.

What are the main benefits of DPIIT recognition?

Recognised startups can generally use self-certification under some labour and environmental laws, lower government fees for patents and trademarks, faster patent examination, relaxations in public procurement, and schemes such as the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme. What you can use depends on your stage and sector.

Does recognition give me the startup tax exemption?

Not by itself. Recognition is the first step. The income tax holiday for eligible startups needs a separate application and approval from the Inter-Ministerial Board, with its own conditions.

Should I file my trademark before or after recognition?

If you plan to file a trademark soon, getting recognised first usually lets you file at the lower government fee for startups. We can plan both together.

What if DPIIT asks for more information?

DPIIT may ask for clarification or more documents. We help you respond. If an application is rejected, you can generally apply again with a clearer explanation of your innovation.

How does the ₹1,000 advance work?

You pay ₹1,000 online to start. It is credited to your professional fee, not charged on top. Your expert confirms the full professional fee before any filing.

Is there a government fee for Startup India registration?

As per current rules, there is no government fee for DPIIT recognition. You pay only our professional fee, which your expert confirms before filing.
